HOV Minority Recruitment for Clinical Trials

HEALING OUR VILLAGE CLINICAL RESEARCH (HOVCR) SEARCH TAB

At Healing Our Village Clinical Research, we assure that all research participants are treated with dignity and respect.  We are fully aware of the negative stigma created from the USPHS Untreated Syphilis Study at Tuskegee”).   Unfortunately, that study has greatly decreased minority participation in clinical trials.  The good news is that currently the FDA requires drug and device manufacturers to have safety review boards and internal review boards (IRBs) in place that oversee the conduct and execution of all clinical trials conducted in the United States and Abroad

Before HOVCR agrees to support African American and Latino recruitment our in-house medical experts thoroughly review the study protocol and informed consent.  We personally meet all of the clinical trial primary investigators that we plan to use as referral sites.   Generally, the trials that we support for minority recruitment help to further the scientific knowledge so we can do a better job of diagnosing, treatment and preventing chronic conditions.

HOVCR works with several pharmaceutical companies and academic medical centers to support their efforts in recruiting minority populations (African American and Latino) worldwide.  Currently we have relationships to academic medical centers in:

  • United States
  • Ghana
  • Nigeria
  • Costa Rica
  • Caribbean Islands

Our Community Engagement Model utilizes our global Pharmacy and Physician network to identify patients that meet the inclusion / exclusion criteria, provide health education on specific chronic disease, educate patients on the benefits of clinical trial participation, and facilitate the referral and enrollment of “qualified” participanants into local clinical trial sites.

We are recruiting for the following studies:

  • APOL1 Mediated Kidney Disease (AMKD)
  • Diabetes Kidney Disease
  • Medications and Devices for the management of type 2 diabetes
  • Heart Failure
  • Coronary Artery Disease (LPa)
